Airway Prosthodontics
Airway Prosthodontics is the evaluation and treatment of the airway system and how it impacts your dental and overall health. Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) is caused by insufficient air intake and can be characterized by snoring and/or increased efforts to open the upper airway. Airway Prosthodontics can be used in conjunction with Oral Appliance Therapy to correct airway obstructions and promote nasal breathing.
Dentists have a unique opportunity to use Airway Prosthodontics as a preventative solution for those who suffer Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) but do not have diagnosed Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Our office can screen our patients to determine if they’re at risk for SDB and OSA. Additionally, provide an Airway Protocol for patients that have difficulty breathing through their nose.
